We all like a red from time to time that doesn't demand too much attention and this is the one. A good solid red, a Crianza of Grenache, old vines and Tempranillo that's just so easy to enjoy. The strength of Centenial Grenache is toned down with Tempranillo to give an amazing result. Aromas of red fruits, cinnamon and leather; wonderful taste and long aftertaste. And the price? Even easier to swallow.
100% Monastrell! Body, aroma, strength, aftertaste, what more could you ask for? This wine gives you a wonderful example of all that is great about Monastrell. The dark juicy grape is such a favourite because it soaks up the long luminous summers of Yecla to make intense juicy, wines that soften beautifully with age. This is a full-bodied wine that will stay with you long after you have finished it. Complete, flawless and brilliant value for money.
This is a superbly executed Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva. The colour is a rich, medium-dark cherry, the aroma is intense, spicy and fruity and the taste is of very ripe blueberries with a creamy, oaky finish. Very long finish. Not impossible to criticise, but very, very difficult - so we won't!
This interesting young wine is a happy marriage of Monastrell with Syrah and Merlot. Lorenzo Gil, from Bodegas Luzon has a high opinion of Monastrell, saying that it 'means the same to Jumilla as Tempranillo does to Rioja. It's the character of the region'. We think he has a point. The wine has an intense cherry colour and powerful aromas of ripe red and black fruits. The taste is strong but, thanks to the influence of Merlot, still nice and fresh. An irresistible red to serve with a good meaty stew and especially good to keep at your elbow when there's a proper wood smoke barbecue in the offing.
Rich, wholesome, with superb aromas this very fine red marks another high point for a great winemaker. Fans of Grenache will not be disappointed as the best of the grape's attributes are expressed in this blend with Carignan. The wine has rested in American and French oak barrels for 10 months. The result is a superior red, with lots of the classic Grenache aromas and taste. Full bodied and very long aftertaste. A terrific red and a must to accompany lamb, beef and gamey red meats.
A superior Cabernet from this young and dynamic winery, which epitomises Spanish wine's new-found vitality. Enate is the top wine maker of Somontano in the foothills of the Pyrenees. They have created a superb wine with this Cabernet Sauvignon which, with the blend of Merlot, delivers a strong burst of red fruit aromas and a wonderfully soft texture. Very good taste and long-lasting aftertaste. A really very pleasing wine.
