Soft and well balanced, this is a very successful blend of Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache - not too fruity and finely spiced. Meaty and fresh with a long aftertaste - this is a good value red that makes for a very pleasant and easygoing casual drink.
This wine is a masterpiece. Young, yet with all the classic notes of Rioja, it comes from the Eguren family who own one of the most prestigious wineries in the region between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. This wonderful creation is Tempranillo with a touch of Graciano, using only the best, hand-picked grapes. Lots of aromas and flavour and a long and pleasant aftertaste. Fabulous.
Marques de Riscal has long pioneered top quality wines in Rioja and Rueda. This is a new adventure for them: a wine created with 15% Merlot and Syrah, and the rest carefully selected Tempranillo grapes from alluvial lands of the Duero region. The result? Highly aromatic wines like this one with good body and colour and lots of freshness and intensity. The wine is aged for six months in American oak to emerge black-cherry coloured with aromas of ripe dark fruit and fine smoked notes. This gorgeous wine pairs well with ham, mild cheeses, casseroles (not too spicy, mind) pulse stews, poultry, grilled and roast meat.
