Light and soft. Very much a Merlot. Chill it, quite an experience!

Intense aromas and yet quite soft, like a good Merlot. This is one of the good wines of this house. Did you know that chilled Merlot goes very well with fish? Try it with pan fried sea bass, superb!

Murua Red 2001

Rich, cherry-red colour with very pleasant aromas of ripe, red fruits and an edge of oak. Very tasty, soft and velvety and bursting with all the character you'd expect of a good Rioja Reserva. Grape varieties are 90% Tempranillo with Graciano and a sniff of Mazuelo. Aged over 18 months in French oak and left to mature further in the bottle, this excellent blend gives a fruity compote aroma and distinctive taste. Long aftertaste with edges of liquorice and some oak, this is a very good wine with bags of personality.

Hacienda Monasterio 2005

This is an outstanding wine with a powerful nose and taste. With dark cherries and a hint of jam and sweet spices, Hacienda Monasterio makes for a meaty and complex wine that is perfectly balanced. An affordable way to enjoy the winemaking skills of Peter Sisseck, whose cult wine, Pingus, is unaffordable and virtually unobtainable. This is a smooth, polished red wine, not to be missed.
