Asturias in the Cornisa of the Cantabric sea has a long tradition of growing apples - the most plentiful fruit of the region. Hardly surprising then, that the favourite drink of the area is 'sidra' or apple cider and that El Gaitero is known the world over.

Artazuri 2005

This smashing wine has a lovely dark cherry finish and a bold, full-bodied taste. Bodegas Artazu is found in the northernmost part of the Navarra which, like Rioja, is exposed to both Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. Artazu benefits from the occasional cold winds coming off the Pyrenees which helps to make wines of extraordinary elegance.

With this clever blend of Tempranillo and Garnache they have achieved a good, fruity vintage with a very happy after taste. Not only that, it's really good value for money which makes it a hit at parties with friends or for summer BBQs.

Raig de Raim 2007

A fine young wine with lots of character, aromas of very ripe red fruits, altogether delightfully jammy and tasty. And gosh, what value. A blend of 70% Grenache with Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot aged four months in American and French oak, this wine has a nice cherry red colour and a taste that is full of mature red and black berries with a soft oaky edge. Much, much more than anyone could reasonably expect for the price!
