Mas Roig 2004

After 13 months in French oak barrels, this is a fantastically bold wine from one of our favourite producers. Elegant on the palate, but with plenty of stuffing and complex black plum, tobacco, mineral and floral notes, it's balanced, fresh and long. An alluring red that shows both intensity and finesse - definitely one of the best wines of the year. Don't miss it!

Mas d'en Compte Crianza 2005

Celler Cal Pla

Wine maker Joan Sangenis has made a superb job of this red. Full-bodied, with aromas of black fruits and superior finish, this wine is quite an experience. It develops into a fat, round beauty over 14 months in the barrel. Must be experienced with good chewy food, especially red meats and game.

Mather Teresina 2003-2004

Celler Pinol

A full body and strong aromas make this one of the top reds of Terra Alta. Mather Teresina is a big wine laden with fruit offering super ripe tannins. A blend of old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, Morenillo, Merlot, old vine Grenache and Tempranillo, the wine is aged between 18 and 30 months in French, American and Hungarian oak. Give it a swirl in the glass and you'll be met with tons of wild strawberry and dark purple fruits. This and the taste of minerals and spices can almost transport you to the sandy soils of the Terra Alta. A winner.
