Abadal Picapoll 2004 - 2005

A fresh, full-bodied, medium-dry white made entirely from the tiny picapoll, a delightful, oval-shaped grape indigenous to the Pla de Bages region of Catalunya. The wine's delicate, pale yellow colour and aromas of honeyed apricot and maracuya are largely thanks to the use of this eccentric little grape, known for its thick skin.

Thick skinned it may be, but few foodies remain impervious to the delights of this wine which can be enjoyed equally well with cold meats like Parma or Serrano ham or thumping main courses such as paella and risotto. Terrific with fowl or blue fish as well.

Avgvstvs Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot 2000

Soft aromas, slightly oaked. Good taste of medium ripe red fruits with a touch of spices. Soft but long after taste.

This is a very pleasant wine, soft at the palate as a result of the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. A perfect gentle taste of medium red fruits with some oak in it. Easy to drink. Very nice after taste.

Genesis 2005

This wine is a new arrival to the Montsant wine region and the results are impressive. Made from centennial vines, it has a superb taste and an outstanding aftertaste. The vivid red colours of the wine are achieved by means of a carefully controlled ageing process. In the nose the wine is attractively fruity with subtle citric touches, which lift and refresh. Genesis has a well-balanced taste that is superb in all aspects. Good to drink now, but if you can resist the temptation, it's even better to lay down for a couple of years!

Martinet Bru 2003

A classic from a small winemaker that produces some of the best wine of Priorat. Clos Martinet is owned by Jose Luis Perez, who runs the estate with his very talented daughter, Sara. They produce rich and intense wines with a classic spicy, peppery bouquet and enormous power, depth and length. Martinet Bru is the result of an inspired blend of Grenache, 80%, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged in French oak. The result is a full-bodied wine with superb aromas of jammy red fruits and a soft oak edge. Superior taste of berries and very long aftertaste. A beautifully well-balanced wine.

Mauro 2005

Bodegas Mauro is a great maverick winery. It has established a worldwide reputation, of which this fabulous wine with its intense aromas of red fruits is a great exemplar. Created with a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah from vines 60 years old and more, the result is classic Ribera del Duero. A dark rich colour, wonderful bouquet and a perfect balance between the oak and rich black fruit.

A wine that comes highly commended with the class to rival a great Bordeaux and as such is amongst the top wines of Spain. A perfect marriage of aroma and taste.
