Alion 2004

Outstandingly good! Intense cherry colour, delicate aroma of cocoa and chocolate, toasty and creamy. Full of flavour, abundant and elegant tannins. Although part of the Vega Sicila Group, wine makers since 1864, Alion has been independent from day one and in doing so they have developed their own stile and personality. The result of it all is this superior wine. Highly rated by the toughest wine critics of the world. Definitely worth every penny!

This is the flagship of this small winery, which produces some of the best wines in Navarra. Just 3,600 bottles were produced of this superior blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. Carefully selected, hand-picked grapes have been fermented in small oak vats and later aged in new French oak barrels. The result is this complex but very pleasant wine, with wonderful aromas of red fruits, vanilla and coffee. A rare and lovely choice.

Brunos is a positive explosion of fresh aromas and dark red fruits. Intense, bright and lively in colour, it's the result of a stunning mix of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah from vines between 30 and 50 years old. The mix doesn't stop with the choice of grapes. The vines themselves are chosen from different estates at different heights. In the wrong hands, this could be a mongrel of a wine. But Brunos is fresh to the palate, spicy with a well-balanced oak end - a pleasing elegant wine, full of body with a superior ripe berry taste. If you enjoy oaky wines, there's no mix up - this is one not to be missed!

Celler Cal Pla

Rich, wholesome, with superb aromas this very fine red marks another high point for a great winemaker. Fans of Grenache will not be disappointed as the best of the grape's attributes are expressed in this blend with Carignan. The wine has rested in American and French oak barrels for 10 months. The result is a superior red, with lots of the classic Grenache aromas and taste. Full bodied and very long aftertaste. A terrific red and a must to accompany lamb, beef and gamey red meats.

Coto de Hayas Crianza 2004 - 2005

We all like a red from time to time that doesn't demand too much attention and this is the one. A good solid red, a Crianza of Grenache, old vines and Tempranillo that's just so easy to enjoy. The strength of Centenial Grenache is toned down with Tempranillo to give an amazing result. Aromas of red fruits, cinnamon and leather; wonderful taste and long aftertaste. And the price? Even easier to swallow.
