Baron De Ley White 2008

Baron de Ley

Wonderful pale yellow colour with a very good balance between structure and taste.

Immediately after harvesting, the Viura grapes (a synonym for the Macabeo grape, by the way) are carefully skin macerated, pressed and then fermented. This unusual wine perfectly shows the character of the grape's natural aromatic freshness with all its sharpness of taste keeping the softness at the neck and creating a superb aftertaste.

Celler de Cantonella

This is Sauvignon Blanc at its best. Without exaggeration, a superior white. Settle back and do try this at home. First you will get an intense aroma of white fruits, with just a slight touch of oak. Then the superb taste of fresh and ripe white fruits with just a hint of Mediterranean herbs.

Cervoles is made by a very special producer who indulges his craft by making small numbers of great quality wines. This wine is fresh and light but, at the same time, very tasty and with a fabulous after taste. Just the thing to have on a summery table piled high with food like lobster, shellfish, cold poultry and good strong cheeses.

A really nice, quaffable white from a very well established red Rioja producer. Lots of life-enhancing ripe green fruits with a very long aftertaste. It's sharp and fruity, yet very soft at the palate. A wine with a crisp, fresh taste, which is exactly what you want from Viura. A highly drinkable, no nonsense wine to enjoy chilled with friends on a hot summer's day!

Montesierra White 2004

Bodega Pirineos

Loads of fruity aromas, dry, and rich, this is a well-made match of Macabeo - that classic grape of Rioja - and a touch of Chardonnay. All the wonderful aromas of Macabeo but with the touch of leather so typical of the Chardonnay grape. Long finish. A very interesting white and an excellently priced partner to perk up casseroles or grilled fish, risottos, shellfish and salads.

Grenache is deservedly the favoured grape for making stunning roses and this is a perfect example of the art. A rose from Rioja, this is irresistibly drinkable - dry and crisp with refreshing aromas of raspberry and strawberry.
