Spanish Wine Regions > Pla de Blages

Like in most very small D.O.’s the wines are very good. We very much like the Cabernet Franc of this area, quite unusual in Spain, both as a grape and as a wine but it is worth every penny. Again, in whites, their most expressive grape is Picapoll, typical of this area yet quite different and special. Light red meat dishes for the red and any type of fish and/or chicken for the white.

Wine region's location

Amongst the smallest in Spain, this D.O. is situated in the Province of Barcelona, separated from the D.O. Penedes by the mountains of Monstserrat. The climate is mid-mountain Mediterranean but with large temperature variations, all of it favourable for the development of grapes of outstanding quality. Along with the classic grapes of the area, this D.O. is know for the production of Picapoll grape (white) and Cabernet Franc (red), a fact that makes its wines quite original.
