Spanish Wine Regions > Emporda - Costa Brava

Good reds and whites with a pronounced Mediterranean influence. The young reds and crianzas are very good value for money. Some superb Reservas if you are prepared to pay a little bit more. Special mention for Blanc Pescador, from Castillo Perelada, a very special white with “needle” or light bubble that makes it very interesting and pleasant to drink.

Wine region's location

This D.O. is located in the north east of the province of Girona (Catalonia). Situated on a plane, this area is protected from the Tramontana (strong northerly wind) by the mountain range of Les Gabarres and the smaller Alberes. Along the plane we also find the rivers Ter, Daro and Ridaura. All these natural phenomena help the development of the local grapes. This is important as the soil is not very rich yet the temperate, climate and the irrigation help the development of good grapes that produce very pleasant wines.
