Our first choice from this D.O. has to be the roses! Mostly produced with Grenache grapes however some of them are beautifully blended with Tempranillo. Best value for money of any roses in the market. They are good in summer or winter, very cold or just chilled. We recommend them with Spanish tapas, pasta, paella, blue fish or white meats. It’s also worth mentioning that Calatayud’s young reds are not far behind, again good value for money. They are quite strong in aroma, fruity and tasty.

Wine region's location

The D.O. located in the westernmost part of the province of Zaragoza. The cooler mountain climate of this area and vineyards which benefit from steep, uneven ground, give the wines good colour and a very good acidity balance. Its climate, semi-dry, extreme continental with hot summers and very cold winters has a decisive influence on the grapes which have a particular acidity-alcohol ratio producing very well balanced wines.

Wine characteristics

White Wines
Very few of their white wines are barrel fermented which makes for a very light yellow colour. In generally they are fresh and fruity.

Rose Wines
Rose wines are what this region is known for. Produced with Grenache they are a perfect example of this variety of grape. Aromatic, very tasty and of a deep raspberry colour.

Red Wines
Again, dominated by Grenache, dark and a lively red in colour, strong at the nose with aromas of dark berries. Once you taste the wine you will see that it is soft and full of flavour.
